Alka Group History
Our path
Started as a family business, Alka opens its first factory in Romania and sets off with a team of 23 people. In 1994, it launches Gold Mocca, the first local coffee brand, marking its official entry into the coffee market. A period of accelerated diversification follows: in 1997 it enters the sweet snacks category with Alka Wafers, and in 1998 it launches the Nutline brand, which quickly becomes number 1 in the seeds and dried fruits category.

1994 – 2000
The first Alka factory; launch of Gold Mocca, the first local coffee brand.
Entry into the sweet snacks category: Alka Wafers.
Nutline launches, quickly becoming No. 1 in seeds & dried fruits.
2000-2005
Launch of Espresso Bar (expansion into coffee).
Start of biscuit production: Dr. Krantz.
Rebranding of waffles: Alfers becomes the new brand.


2006 – 2010
Launch of Cake House (cakes).
Stretto launch (specialty coffee)
Sale of Nutline to Intersnack
2013 – 2019
Enter salty snacks with Toortitzi.
Elephant international launch (40+ countries)
New Ploiești factory (EU funds); ~850 employees.


2019
Return to dried fruits: Alka seeds (single packaging).

2021
In 2021, the “Meteoritzi” brand was introduced, offering pretzels with unique flavors, and the product quickly became a favorite of young consumers.


2023
In 2023, Prăjitura Casai benefited from a rebranding, now having a “flavor-driven” range
2024
In 2024, Alka launched “EGO Biscuits”, a premium product with three layers of crispy biscuits and two layers of cream, available in innovative flavors (chocolate and lemon whipped cream)
